First Day of the Great Adventure!

I am under blog reconstruction so ignore the mess! :)

- FIy Day
 6:45p.m.
Today was great!

I worked night shift last night.  Randy (Yisrael’s dad) brought him to Montgomery to meet me.  We ate lunch at 5 Guys and then went to the airport.  I was a little worried because we were getting there at 12:30pm and our flight was leaving at 3.  We checked baggage and were also bringing along our gun for safety on the road trip home and so I wanted to have plenty of time.  But as it turns ut Montgomery had no troubles at all! They were super nice and they said we were the first they had seen come through with a gun…. Wow! You would think that for Alabama there would be a lot more!
Anyway, I digress, We  had to rearrange our luggage so that our checked luggage was less than 50lbs, but we didn’t have to leave anything behind – thankfully! I flight left a bit late, but was good.  It was just to a small transport plane from Montgomery to Charlotte, NC.  YISRAEL LOVED IT!!!! He was like a little kid looking out the window the whole time!  Haha I got a little nap (couldn’t resist his “fluffy shoulder” as Bobby used to say on long car trips!) We got off at Charlotte and only had to go one terminal over so we had time for dinner at a beer and BBQ place.  I had been craving BBQ so that was great! We then boarded our plane to Minneapolis, MN which we are on now! I started crocheting, but decided to take a little nap and now I’m working on my blog.  Unfortunately Yis and I couldn’t sit together on this flight, but I think he has made friends with one of his seat partners.  That is all for now, we are due to land at about 7:30pm eastern.  I will write more once we land and we are in our hotel!

11:00 pm

We finally got to the hotel around 11, after waiting for a bus from the hotel for about an hour.  We had no problem with getting our baggage or getting off the plane! We decided to definitely like sitting next to each other better, but it was still interesting to talk to new people. Yisrael sat next to a fellow designer and I sat beside a fellow nurse.  Small world!
The hotel is nice! The guy we are buying the car from offered to let us stay in his families hotel for free, AWESOME!
Tomorrow we buy a car!
Until the, explore!

Good Week!

I am doing a HAPPY dance right now.  (That reminds me of my sister-in-law, Rachel, - she literally does a happy dance for a full minute HILARIOUS!!!!) This is for many reasons....

See that little number, its says 330...earlier it said something like 280. (Update its now like 345ish!)
1. I have had like 60 views on my blog TODAY.  You should read my post about Racism. I challenge you!

2. I HAVE JUST ABOUT FINISHED MY CRAFT ROOM! We have lived in this house for 9 months and I have always dreamed about this room! Well this summer I knew it was going to become a reality.
It started as a storage room so I cleaned and threw away and organized and moved stuff to other rooms.

I then just simply put my desk and a cot in here without painting the walls.
Then last week I was hit with inspiration from pinterest and just went for it!!! I sanded and painted the walls this color: Halcyon Green

And then I set to decorating.  I decided that one side of my office would be for crafts and the other side office.  I am still in school so I needed a space to really study and focus without being surrounded by crafts.  And this is what I came up with:

This is the craft side.

This is the office side.  I still have to finish the desk, but I am getting there!

Now for the individual pieces: (I am typing in the dark right now, that is difficult even with backlit keys! Just a little side note for you!)
This is the little dresser that I revamped.  It was a dirty old thing that I got for free at a yard sale. I used the pinterest Modge Podge recipe (Equal parts elmer's glue and water) and some cloth and scrap book paper I had and VOILA!
This is a old desk drawer that my MIL was throwing away so I modge podged it too!!
Love it!

This is a loom that Yisrael got for me the same Christmas he proposed.  I have actually never used it, but I love it! I wanted to at least put it on display, so I hung some clothes pins to it for notes and then it can also function as a keepsake hanger.
my current project drawer!

My craft desk space - notice the Pinterest :)
My silhouette and yarn station! Notice my labeled drawers!
My extra ribbon wreath, thread (in this spice rack I found), and a cool canvas print
my relax place and storage boxes (LABELED AND EVERYTHING!!!)
My dad made this hook for me with his awesome black smithing skills and I am very fond of it!

Dish rack file organizer - Pinterest idea from my MIL!

Stuff to put on my bookshelf that is currently sitting at my mama's house!

My awesome door we found on the side of the road!

Over all, I love my office so far!!

3. I found some awesome thrift store finds!

Bread machine - $3
Cool Bowl to Silhouettetify (new word, although my spell check doesn't change it!) - $2
4 glass plates to Silhouettetify (and again) - $2
French Press (WOOT!!) - $2
File Box - $1
Cute baby shirt - $1

"I'm not being racist, but..."

Lately, the issue of racism has come up several times around me. From doctors and family members, to random people, I have heard so many conversations about people acting the way they do because of their color or thinking that all people of a color act that way.

People! Are we not past this?

Are there lazy people? Yes.  Are there people who abuse our government and tax money? Yes.  Are there people who don't work when they could? Yes. Are there people that take what they get for granted? Yes.  Are there people that judge others because of their financial status? Yes.  Are there people that judge people because of their color? Yes.

Jesus calls us to love.  LOVE! No matter what.

- The homeless man on the street who looks physically fit to work to my eyes - I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE IS GOING THROUGH!

- The person who uses food stamps - I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH.

I will not be scared of someone because of their color.  You might laugh at me saying this, but so many people I know won't go to that African American or Mexican neighborhood because of the color of people living there.  I am not saying that we need to throw caution to the wind and go into dangerous situations, but white people can rape, white people can kill, white people can sell you drugs.

Sorry guys, I am on a rant, but this is so frustrating to me.  I am a Caucasian raised in the south and therefore, I was raised in this racist atmosphere.  I struggle with it almost on a daily basis.  I CHOOSE not to be racist.  Not to think differently about someone because of their color, monetary status, chosen profession or lack thereof.

Guys, people do wrong.   I do wrong.  I am not saying that "living off the system" is right.  I am just saying, let's leave judging and being racist out of the equation.

So many people have fought for our freedom in this country.  The freedom from other countries, the freedom from oppressive religion, the freedom from OWNING OTHER PEOPLE, and the freedom of being able to live without being stereotyped.

Let's live a life of peace, a life of non-judgement, a life of happiness with ourselves and others.  Jesus does not only call us to love the people who are easy to get along with, the righteous, the rich, the ones that are the right color, the ones with the right job.  NO, JESUS CALLS US TO LOVE THOSE THAT ARE DIFFERENT.  TO EMBRACE THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW BETTER.  TO ENCOURAGE THOSE THAT DON'T SEE ANOTHER WAY.  JESUS WANTS US TO LOVE.

This week I am going to work on loving more and judging less, will you join me? Please leave your comments and I will try to explain better if something I said was unclear.

Until then, Love until it hurts AND THEN LOVE MORE!

Porn for women - post by Melissajenna.com attached

So I have thinking about doing a post about magic mike and fifty shades of grey for a while now. I found this post today which embodied exactly what I was thinking and wanted to write, so I decided there was no use recreating the wheel! As a culture we need to stop being afraid to talk about important issues like PORN. I hope you will read it and take it to heart! I most assuredly have and will!
Disclaimer: I had said that I wanted to read 50 shades of grey when I first started hearing about it. I did not realize at that time what it was all about. Please do not think I am hypocritical with this post about this issue.

lots and lots

It has been quite a while since I have posted. I have got to get more consistent.
This summer has been so jam packed and I have gotten so much done! I am working 24 hours a week at the hospital and LOVING it! I am learning alot and I'm so glad I chose nursing as my profession. (although I will still love teaching, when I have little ones!)
THis summer I have:
- Turned 22 - on the 4th of June - WOOT! I got a silhouette, which is SO awesome - I have been crafting up a storm lately
- cleaned and organized my craft room - I'm talking labeled drawers, paper work filed - EVERYTHING!
- cleaned and organized the laundry room/tool room - same as the craft room! It is ballin'.
- painted the living room ceiling, window seals, door and frame, ceiling fan, and air duct thingies - Looks great, but I made a mess on the floor so I have to fix that some.
- did 350 of my 2000 ATI questions - I need to do more of these
- MY TILE IS BEING INSTALLED!!!!!!!!!!!! - I have nothing to do with this, Yisrael and my FIL, Randy, are rocking this!
- and Mal and I have planned, crafted, and successfully held my niece, Lilly's, first birthday party. It was wonderful and she is precious! It was a watermelon/picnic theme with ants and checkered cloths and tons of watermelon.  I made the cake.
Fruit bowl Mallory made

Not my favorite cake I have ever done, but everyone else seems to like it.

My favorite!

Cute little family!

Aunt Betnuh might have helped with the icing! haha

Ya'll she is a DIVA, for real!

he loved playing in the dirt, he's pretty cute!

Cutest dress ever! Her Granny Martin made it for her!
I love these children! They light up my life! (For some reason I couldn't make the pictures turn the right way, but you can still see the cuteness! :)
I think Lilly had a great day!

So busy summer, and now I am going to start blogging more.  I am working a 12 tomorrow night, so unless someone is having a baby I might get to blog some.
Until then, Admire the cuteness that is my niece and nephew!

work, cleaning, cooking, and husbands

Wow! I have not posted in over a week! Today is the first of June and I must say I have a pretty good summer so far! This week I had the first two real days of my job.  I can't give much information because I'm a nursing student and I'm not supposed to tell where I work and of course nothing about my patients.  But I worked 12 hours and my legs were soo tired after!! I loved my nurse though and she taught me so much! I really enjoyed actually being on the floor and taking care of patients! It makes me even more excited to graduate in December and get started on my nursing career!
This week I cleaned out my spare room that I posted earlier! It looks awesome.  There are still a few boxes, but those are things that are waiting on the rest of the house to be finished.  I have a craft section with organized and labeled drawers and boxes.  I also set up the cot, like a bed, for our guests! I LOVE it! I also baked bread which turned out so great! I don't have the recipe with me, but I will post it on Monday probably.

Right now, we are at Randy and Yogi's.  Tomorrow we are heading to Destin to shoot a wedding! We are staying the night for a mini vaca.  Whitlee is going with us.
Monday is my BIRTHDAY!! I love my birthday. It is my second favorite birthday (After St. Patrick's Day) :) haha
Also this week, I got two flat tires! So Yisrael decided to replace all my low profile tires and rims with regular tires and rims for a Honda.  IT RIDES SO MUCH SMOOTHER!!! It's like a brand new car almost! No road noise.  I have a great husband! Speaking of that, he has discovered his love for fine grilling! He has made lemon fish, portabello burgers, grilled asparagus, grilled tomatoes, jalopeno cheese chicken, and more! SO YUMMY! He cooked for me the night I had to work.  What a amazing man! He treats me like a princess!

Well it is bedtime for me, busy day tomorrow!
Until then, stay busy

Productivity

I feel like today has been the most productive day I have had since school let out.  I finally got the main rooms (bedroom, living room, laundry room, upstairs bathroom, and Yisrael's office) completely clean! This makes me so happy!  I have an as equally productive day planned tomorrow.  I hope to bake bread (my first time, not with the parents!), fold the rest of the clothes and start on the junk room.   I have plans to convert the junk room into a guest/crafty room. This is what it looks like now:

TERRIFYING!!!!!

We moved everything in here when we moved in and were in major construction and it has only been added to over time.  So it MUST be conquered.

Today, I also had a date with my cousin, Megan.  I love her! :) We went to see "What to Expect When you're Expecting".  Cute movie, but not as funny as I thought it would be!

Well that is all for tonight, I'm going to read Hunger Games 3 to my husband now and that takes precedent over blogging! Maybe more tomorrow and a bit more interesting material :)

Until Then, PRODUCTIVITY IS THE KEY!
